Now I've decided to use the very same Butterfly that I used the first time I played along, things have changed somewhat - I'm more a CAS kinda girl now so the challenge was on to create a CAS card and use snippets.
This is what I came up with...
I first found the Playground after getting a little fed up of talking to myself, I do enough of that around 2 kids, 1 husband and a cat if you know what I mean... wink, wink!
I'd seen quite a few challenge blogs but some seemed a little less than friendly to someone coming back to blogging after taking a decade long break. The rules were, lets say a touch harsh with comments like... we will remove entries that do no follow the rules/theme or we will not comment. As someone who was finding her feet again in blogging, I was rather perturbed by the strict rules for a hobby, I just wanted somewhere to play with kindness being at the fore front... enter Di.
After stalking the Playground for a few weeks, I did eventually enter the challenge and thoroughly enjoyed looking through all the inspiration. I will admit to cocking up my link, silly me - still getting back into the swing of things linked my whole blog and not my blog post... Di was observant enough to realise I'd been a blogger before and very kindly corrected my mistake and left me a message and guess what... I've only ever linked my blog post since that day. So you see you can teach an old dog new tricks :)
I don't play as often as I should, but most of my cards are plain and I rarely use snippets but I wanted to take part in this hop because it was where my love of challenges started and only through the relaxed way in which Di runs the challenge, making it very friendly for new crafters/bloggers and doesn't mind the odd mishap/mistake.
The butterfly is made up of lots of off cuts of black cardstock for the dimension, actually its been cut six times and out of those six times, I found just one antennae... go figure!
I coloured the base in a rainbow mix of alcohol markers and stacked five butterflies together then added a good layer of Glossy Accents, left to dry overnight then rinse and repeat. I added the sixth butterfly on top to hide all my gloopy accidents. Created a textured wall as a backdrop and added an Altenew sentiment and voila.
Long post, very sorry but very worth it... don't you think? You still have time to play, run along before the gates close 😉
I love your CAS design with that gorgeous butterfly! Love the hint of a bricked background too, it all works beautifully! So glad you're blogging again and having fun :)
ReplyDeleteLovely card Claire and a great tribute to Di too! xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Claire, your stunning butterfly is so striking against the white background. I cocked up my first link to the Playground too and Di sorted it out for me. I've never made the same mistake again either! xx
ReplyDeleteHi Claire, a beautiful card to help celebrate Di' seven years as headmistress at Snippets Playground, love that you went back and used the same dies as your first entry... have a wonderful week... Megan
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, the glass effect butterfly really pops against the white background. I agree that Di and the snippets blog is such a friendly welcoming place to join in. Emma
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that you have revisited your first day at the playground!! A beautiful card xx
ReplyDeleteGosh this is really beautiful Claire! I loved that butterfly on your first entry and remember your original card so clearly as well as this fabulous one. I went bright pink at the lovely words you wrote - thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm delighted you find the Playground a really fun and happy place to come and play - without you wonderful girls it would be nothing. Thank you again - reaches for the Kleenex once again!

Claire, your post was so on point and well-written about the kind heart that Di has and how generous she is with her time helping out all of us at some point or other. I'm like you and don't always use snippets and those weeks, I miss not going to the Playground. I love that you used the same butterfly as you did on your first entry! That's so thoughtful! It's an amazing creation and I love your entire CAS design!! Thank you so much for joining in the thank you Hop for our Miss Di! Hugs, Darnell
