I have no idea how I got covered in Distress Oxide mermaid lagoon but I most definitely did and I can say with a 100% conviction that it does not wash off before a husband arrives home from work... sigh!
Anyway, I used a mix of Distress Oxides in said colour above, tumbled glass and blueprint sketch onto a Visible Image stamp then spritzed with water and let sit on the cardstock for a few minutes. I used an Altenew stencil with hickory smoke for the grid background.
The tips of the wings have been heat embossed with sparkle and the sentiment is a mix of stamps. A few white highlights complete the card and despite being covered in ink, I love the striking blue of the butterfly.

ReplyDeleteHi Claire, a beautiful birthday card, love the stenciled detail behind.. Totally understand the smurf look, just imagine heading off to a late medical appointment covered in multiple oxide ink colours. Have a wonderful week... Megan

ReplyDeletehow wonderful! I wonder if you would share what kind of paper you used?
ReplyDeleteHello Carol, of course... I use just 300gsm white cardstock, nothing fancy or special just run of the mill. I hope you get this response, I'm sorry I clicked your name to get your blog but I couldn't see anything x
DeleteThank you so much for your kind reply. I was thinking that perhaps you used watercolor paper, or some sort of multimedia paper. Have a great crafty day!
ReplyDeleteWhy Claire, what's wrong with being blue? (Did your husband laugh?) I love, love, love the way you've used that subtle stencilling to ground your wonderful butterfly. The oxides really provide a brilliant colour, don't they? And that glittery heat embossing was a brilliant idea. Mixing and matching words in a sentiment can be such fun and you've really done a perfect job with this one. An amazing design, beautifully presented. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.
ReplyDeleteClaire...beyond fabulous butterfly! The background and dripping turquoise are perfect together. Thanks so much for joining us at CASology this week.

ReplyDeleteIt's so frustrating trying to get ink off our hands...I started using cheap vinyl gloves for DOX inks and alcohol inks and it's working out well :)
Now I have a lovely picture of a blue you in my head and that's made me smile! The card was worth your transformation though as it's mega gorgeous and beautifully CAS. Thanks so much for playing at AAA Cards and it would also fit with our sister challenge AAA Birthday if you fancied linking up.
ReplyDeleteI love your very bold and striking blue butterfly against it's background, so so engaging. Thank you for playing at AAA Cards
