Happy Cake Day
Oh this should have been a simple card but boy oh boy I couldn't get it right. I wanted my cat to be the colour of a Siamese and I'd practised the colours on a scrap of paper and was happy with them. Trouble started because I was preparing tea and by the time I came back to do the colouring, I'd completely forgotten which browns I'd picked out having not made a note of the colour numbers... and do you think I could get it to look like the image on a scrap of paper... hell no, so he ended up being a cat wearing black mittens on his paws, a bruised tail and strange ears!
Anyway... this is Newton Loves Cake and he's coloured with watercolour pencils and a bit of Wink was added to the frosting, the sentiment is from the same stamp set. I stitched a white wavy border around the edge as a frame and coloured some cream pearls with a pink sharpie and there we have it - a weird coloured cat ;)

Cute card Claire and I think your cat is coloured fine...though I understand your frustration...why do we hav to to break off crafting to feed people?...lol
ReplyDeleteHi Claire,
ReplyDeletewhat a very lovely card and such a gorgeous stitched border too.
I know what you mean about pencils there is never any colour on them or it doesn't corrispond with the colours on the top.
I have a very old set of Derwnt ones that have 4 brown colours in them.
I have recently made a card with them for my DT in the begining of March I used brown on the little girls hair moved away from the project and couldn't remember which one I had used.
So had to start again luckily the hair was the first thing I coloured and had stamped a few of the images just in case.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Adorable card, Claire. The stitched border makes a great frame for your CAS card. I did have a chuckle reading your description of the cat. xx
ReplyDeleteLOL at the process for coloring your little cat. Bruised tail and mittens included, this is a sweet and fun CAS card and I love it!
ReplyDeleteDon't be too hard on yourself, he is dead cute. Blame life which got in the way. A brilliant, fancy frame and excellent use of a Sharpie. x
ReplyDeleteHi Claire, a lovely cas design, love the description of the poor cats colouring. I've started colouring with a plain sheet of paper underneath just so I can have somewhere to write the pencils number down. Have a wonderful weekend... Megan
ReplyDeleteWow, what a cute image. Great card.

I think you've discovered an age old problem, Claire. The practice often turns out better than the final product, although I think your card is awfully cute and well done. Thanks for sharing it with us at Addicted to CAS.
