After pushing the completed tag to one side, still in my line of sight and niggling me I decided to make the card base but as I was putting it together I realised the tag was just going to make the card look ugly as hell. Instead I die cut a deer family out of white cardstock and inked up using distress inks to pop in the middle where said tag was going to sit which for the first time yesterday worked better than anything else I'd tried. Its a bit fussy but compared to where it was going its a vast improvement so I stepped away and considered it done.
Lesson learned - never ever make a tag or use a tag, horrible little blighters!

Absolutely beautiful. The deer against the white die cuts are inspired. I've lost count of the number of times I've started with a fixed idea and only when I get that idea out of my head can I create anything half decent. It does take hours, sometimes days! You may be right about tags, I'm not sure if I have ever made a good tag card.
ReplyDeleteI for one am glad you ditched the tag because your card is gorgeous! Most times I start with a bit of an idea and ditch it...time wasted...and end up with something completely different. Oh to be able to create a card in 30 mins!! Your inking of those deer is superb...I love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Claire, a beautiful Christmas card to add to your stash, the family of deer look great as the focal point. I agree with the tags on cards, never made one I would bother taking photo of, but don't mind making tags occasionally. Have a wonderful week... Megan
ReplyDeletehaha- if ever I see a tag on your blog I shall come and rebuke you! Why would you put a tag on a card anyway? (I have done this ridiculous thing!) This card is gorgeous - I love the horzontal layers of different elements that work beautifully together.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is really lovely and well worth the effort!!
ReplyDeleteFussy and gorgeous! Love it. Love the shading on the deer.
ReplyDeleteFabulous card and the deer look far better there than a tag would have - I reckon we all have a pet hate when it comes to putting cards together if we think about it!
ReplyDeleteI think this is absolutely stunning and I can’t imagine the tag would have looked better than the deer as they look perfect! Thank-you for joining us at the Crafts Galore Encore Anything Goes November Challenge. Good luck! Denyse x
ReplyDeleteLove everything about this! Thanks so much for sharing with us in the Love To Craft Challenge Blog's "November Anything Goes" challenge!
