Today, I'm taking the big step of entering my card into a challenge blog, namely Pixie's Snippets Playground. Its with trepidation but I really fancy having a go so we'll see, who knows :)
So here is my card, the main focus is the butterfly from Memory Box that I paper pieced together from a tiny snippet of red cardstock, red being my favourite colour so I won't throw the tiniest bit away. Actually, most of the card is made up from snippets of cardstock and paper from my scrapbooking days.
To give a little more definition to the butterfly and create a focal point I've raised it with 3D foam pads. I used a white Inktense watercolour pencil just to add a little detail to the ivy leaves and make them more realistic and less flat.
After yesterday's card, I am really pleased with how this one came out and it reminds of the Red Admiral butterflies I used to see as a child fluttering amongst the garden flowers.
Supplies: White linen cardstock, Black cardstock, Memory Box Vivienne Butterfly and Hexagon, Spellbinders Springtime, Sizzix Tim Holtz Garden Greens, Sizzix Daisy #2 dies, Stamping All Day sentiment stamp and Intense watercolour pencils.
Hello Claire! A HUGE welcome to the Snippets Playground and I'm delighted you chose to dip your toe into the water (so to speak) with us. I quickly rushed over here to say 'Hi' and also to remind you to say if you're in for this fortnight's prize (it's the cat stamp set and the chevron dies). You can go for either or boh, loads of people to go for both so never feel you shouldn't. But I do need you to let me know as it's not really clear in your first sweet comment.
ReplyDeleteI'll be back later to comment properly - have just done a very quick peek at your blog and you have some fabulous makes on here - as well as this snippets card!
Make sure you play on the swings in the Playground - and watch out for offers of illicit 'hooch' from certain nameless scamps!
Hugs
Di xx
Not bad Claire - just new to the Playground. And very welcome you are. Added you to the list of 'prize players', think it's a popular one this fortnight! x
ReplyDeleteRight, I'm back! Love your card Claire and your attention to detail is fabulous. As I said earlier, welcome to the Playground - I do hope you'll be a regular player with us. I did have to go into Mr Linky to correct your link as it was just taking me to your blog and not a specific post. It's not important but as you grow back into blogging it will help folk find posts you might link to other challenges - I'm very relaxed about the Playground in any case. Just wait until you've posted your blog post 'live' and then pick up the actual URL from the bar along the top of your screen.
ReplyDeleteI like that you've already beaten me to commenting on some entries. And I do love the cards you've posted on here already - we seem to have similar tastes - for instance the PB Bashful die is one of my favourites! And, I see you follow Seven Hills as well - eek, I spend tons with them - their blog is too tempting!
That's it from me for now - if you ever get stuck and need to ask anything, my email addy is on my sidebar. But, this seems to be a revisit to blogging for you so I imagine you'll be in the swing of it before you know yourself!
Hugs

ReplyDeleteSkipped over to see you from the Snippets Playground. Who mentioned "hooch"? Come see me at the back of the bike sheds but keep an eye out for Parsnip . . .sometimes he snitches on us!
Hugs, Sarn xxx
I love the bright fresh look of your card you've used and the butterfly is a gorgeous colour. It's all beautifully put together. I think you'll find that most of us have bag fulls of tiny snippets that we can't throw away but this is a brilliant way to use them. Welcome to the playground.
ReplyDeleteHi Claire, a super cute card with so much detail, love the bright red butterfly against the white background and the honeycomb diecut... have a wonderful week... Megan
ReplyDeleteHi Claire, I just popped over from the 'Playground' to have a closer look at your fabulous card. Love the colours and design and the wonderful way you used up your snippets xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so late catching up with everything in the playground right now. I only have my iPad for company at the moment and my signal strength is somewhat sporadic. Anyway I spotted your card and just had to come on over and say hello. Anything you need to know about the playground duck pond just ask me. I have very intimate knowledge of that there pond!! Also that Parsnip has to be kept an eye on too. He is an awful snitch. We did manage to ply him with enough drink once to stop him from running straight to Miss Di . Serves him right that he coulddn't stand up straight for a week he was so sozzled. You have some great cards on your blog and I couldn't help but notice that your somewhat partial to butterflies? If that's the case then I run a butterfly card challenge . You can find the details on my main blog. Tried to follow you but blogger isn't playing ball at the moment so will try again later. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteI saw your card over in Pixie's Snippets Playground and just had to come over for a closer look. What a fabulous card, I love the design. xx
