Patchwork

I'm sharing a patchwork effect card I created from lots of small snippets of K&Co patterned papers, I'm sorry I can't for the life of me remember the name and because the pieces were quite small, there was no name left on the bottom strip.

The card base is 8x8 as anything smaller wouldn't give the white space I like.  I started by cutting the little bits of patterned paper into squares and rectangles, then took to the sewing machine to edge them very roughly and I left the end threads showing on purpose.  I arranged the snippets on my card first and took a photo when I was happy as a reference point.

The butterflies were cut in black cardstock and attached to some bigger bits of the same paper and then fussy cut out and adhered using foam pads for a bit of lift.  I added a few paint splatters in various colours to match and bring the whole card together.

Supplies:  White 8x8 card base, K & Co patterned paper, MB Vivienne die, Inktense watercolour pencils, Hero Arts sentiment stamp and Hobby Craft clear gems.

  1. Now this is what I call a snippets card Claire! Clever design and I love the stitching with the carefree ends of thread :) Gorgeous butterflies and a lovely sentiment make this extra special. I totally 'get' that it needed to be on an 8" square card for the added white space.
