Strawberries x 2

I'm always wandering around the blogs I follow and my interest this week peaked at Darnells Twofer challenge with the prompt being Fruit.

Now I've only ever entered two or three times because its hard for me to make two cards in one sitting, mainly because I suck at doing quick cards and have no craft room to leave everything out and come back to another time.  My stash is stored in boxes in a cupboard and it means I have to lug it all out, sort through what I want then sit at the coffee table and craft... hence my late night inspiration when I lie in bed visualising what stamps I have and that is exactly what happened with the sweet berries set from Clearly Besotted.

This is pretty straightforward although I had already decided I wanted a greyscale image with a pop of bright red from the strawberries and its just coloured with my Prisma pencils.

The sentiment is a mash-up from the sweet berries set and the Mom is taken from Altenews wild hibiscus using masking tape to remove the words not in use.

So I went with the obvious for my second card love... using the strawberries as little hearts.

I inked the strawberry I thought most resembled a heart and stamped three times, fussy cutting out and then using the reverse covered in poppy red brilliance ink.

I then overstamped some swirls from a very old Basic Grey set and used three coats of clear embossing powder to give some shine.

The sentiment is from the Clearly Besotted set because I still wanted to reference fruit and I thought it would make a sweet Anniversary card or Valentine.

Here's a little picture of the strawberry I used to create the hearts, its the one on the far right.

  15. Your little bunch of strawberries and buds, all tucked in the corner, are beautifully colored. The bright reds and soft yellows look amazing against the gray tones and the white base. Your mom is absolutely going to love this card! And you clever girl!...Hearts turned into strawberries! That is just a brilliant use of these sweet berries, plus the shine you've added to them looks amazing. This is a wonderful pair of cards, and I love them! 18. First of all, I know exactly what you mean about not having space to leave things out. I had it all in boxes for about 15 years. I now have a craft room in the basement and it makes a big difference to the way I craft. Now, on to your beautiful cards: Your Mother's Day card has that soft, lovely look that really highlights your bright berries! So clever to turn the strawberry into hearts and give it the flourish detail! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!
